D1 vs D3 - What's the right fit?

For those who've been through it - how did you decide between D1 and D3? My daughter is a pitcher getting interest from both. D1 is obviously appealing but I've heard D3 offers more balance. Thoughts?

I chose a JUCO route first (RCC) and it worked out great. More playing time and I developed a lot before transferring.

D3 gets overlooked but the baseball is solid and kids actually graduate. Depends on her priorities - baseball vs academics vs social life.
